MACRO | Day 4
I do macro photography fairly regularly. I do it an nearly every newborn session I do. I love to get the tiny details of a baby while they are tiny. Before long they grow and you have forgotten just how tiny they are. The small macro shots of your baby are a great keepsake to remember just how small they were.
Today I focused more on flowers and plants and my beautiful ring my husband gifted me for Christmas this year. I thought I knew what I was doing when photographing macro shots. I got by. I now know I was kind of doing it wrong. I learned so much in just a little bit with Tiffany Kelly’s “Up Close and Personal” breakout with Clicking Moms. I had no idea what the ratios were on the top of my lens. Thought I was using it right. I wasn’t using my lens right or wrong, but not to its full capability. In reading this breakout workshop I learned a ton about macro photographing flowers and plants and well, anything. I immediately had to head outdoors to practice my new found knowledge. I found some shade and some flowers and plants and went to work. I have been wanting to photograph my new wedding ring. This was the perfect time to do it. I think they turned out so pretty. I did come upon some issues keeping this heavy ring up on flowers and things at the angle I needed . I did realize that angles were very important when photographing in this form.
I cannot wait to get better at the macro photography and provide even better macro itty bitty baby part photographs. I’m waiting on a few babies to join us and I’ll get to practice my refined skills. They are going to be so cute! I cannot wait!!
