Artists Inspired Blog Circle September 2016 – GOLD

Artists Inspired Blog Circle September 2016 – GOLD

Artists Inspired is a group of amazing and talented ladies!! Each month we have started to come together to blog on a theme. This months theme was Gold. I must be honest, and this is a common occurrence that I forget to get my sh** together to actually photograph for the blog.  Gold was a hard one for me. I don’t have a lot of or any gold in my home really. I thought about golden hour, but that was not possible due to me running kids around every night for sports. So after all my darn excuses I thought it would be fun to create some gold in Photoshop, to create a painting almost out of my photographs.

I grabbed what are considered gold here in Okinawa. PRODUCE!!! The saying I hear a lot is that breast milk is like gold, but here in Okinawa not only is breast milk gold, but produce. It is so expensive compared to the United States. Its a struggle to eat super healthy because fresh produce can add up. One watermelon sighted on Okinawa was $40!!! I love watermelon but I am not willing to pay that much for one.  Which is sad because I have ideas for some cute little sessions with little ones and watermelon.

The onions and garlic aren’t necessarily too expensive, but those tomatoes are spendy. I know they aren’t gold colored either, but like I said it was what I had. And some goldfish and my gold zipper.

On another note, life is like gold. Treat it as such. I’ve had several experiences in the last year, year and a half that have left me appreciating my babies even more and the life that I have with them.  They may drive me insane, but they are gold to me and I love them dearly. I am so blessed to have four beautiful and healthy children.

It would be amazing for you to follow this blog around and visit and comment on all or some of them. You can start by going to Ceri Herd Photography.

Liz - These images are so rich – I love how the textures enhance the “earthiness” of the photos. I also love how you put things in perspective: from the price of fruit to the blessings of your children. <3

Sarah Keene - These are very beautiful images and creative edits! I’m particularly intrigued by the onion end and the goldfish zipper collage. So creative.

Nikki S. - I just love your creative take on this theme AND equally loved learning a little bit more about what life is like in Japan!

Brandi g - Your images are so amazing. The subjects are so everyday that you forget how wonderful they are. You are fantastic!

Sharleen - I love what you have done here. Fresh food is so expensive anywhere but I would agree I am not willing to pay $40 for a watermelon either. I really like the zip image and the texture feel to it.
