Nescopeck, PA Portrait Photography- Shooting Dynamite
I am so very excited to share this experience. I was really unsure what to expect when my parents said we were going to the salt mine to shoot dynamite. In my mind I’m picturing us shooting into the mine at dynamite to knock some walls down or something. I had not clue what to expect for the experience.
We had a date set by my sister-in-law. Her father is the big wig up there and was able to set this up for our family to go and do. The first date didn’t work as we were all very much under the weather. We all had the flu or a really bad cold or something. It was nice to rest for the day and gain some strength back. We rescheduled for my son’s 11th birthday. He was so excited.
Two of our children received an AR-15 .223 from Santa this year. I was gifted one by my husband. So we were all about shooting the guns while on vacation. We decided to shoot the guns provided instead of our own. When we arrived he had it all set up for us. He had different ranges set up. He had them at 100 yards, 200 yards, 300 yards, 400 yards and 500 yards. All with different colors at each yardage. He had the little tables set up so we could sit down and have the guns supported.
We all took turns shooting and we had to see how if we could shoot one stick of dynamite at each yardage point. I was also expecting super loud booms, and we didn’t get the SUPER loud ones. They had a semi-quiet boom. My oldest son shot the most targets with a whopping 3/5. The rest of us got either 1 or 2 targets. After it was all done the rest of the family got to go tour the salt mines. They said that was amazing too! I don’t have photos of that unfortunately. Now that I offer Nescopeck, PA Portrait Photography I hope to be able to do this a lot more.
